March 2014 Beauty Favorites

Hiya!
Okay, today I have my March beauty favorites! Yeah! another month down until it's finally going to be summertime. Oh really quick before I start, I'm going to start filming soon! I know i haven't filmed in the longest time and the quality has been really poor, but I'm getting a new computer that has an amazing HD picture to it, I actually used it to film my back to school makeup look with it, so I'm really excited about that (: Anyway, onto the products!

1. Pixi Fresh Face Healthy Skin Tone Booster
Okay, I'm going to admit, I wasn't expecting too much from this product at all. I mean, I bought it off of Amazon for .75 cents, so I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I do. When you first swatch it, it looks terrifying because it looks orange. There is nothing worse than looking like a fake baker, and I mean nothing  but surprisingly, this doesn't give off any orange look. It just brightens up your makeup and gives the skin a healthy, dewy glow.

2. Josie Maran Coconut Water Cheek Gelee in Honeymoon Honey
I love this cheek tint soooooooo much! Okay, when I first got it, it looked really intimidating, but after i swatched and saw how perfect it is for light contouring, I instantly added it to my favorites pile. It gives the cheeks  a really nice sun kissed glow. I can imagine that your seeing a trend, and your probably right. In the spring I'm all about glowing and looking fresh faced.

3. The Balm Nude Tude Palette shade Standoffish, Sultry, Selfish and Sophisticated
I love this palette for the spring season! The shades are gorgeous and apply like silk. My all time favorite is Standoffish because, it works as an amazing base that gives off the prettiest, ethereal glow. I like to wear it underneath any matte brown eyeshadow.

4. Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in Nude
When I first started searching for this in my Walgreen's, it was always sold out. But, I went to buy birthday gifts for one of my best friends, and saw only one sitting in the storage holder. I immediately snatched it up and bought it. Mainly I've been applying it to my inner corner and Aegyo Sal. It really brightens up my face and cancels out any redness on my waterline.

5. Maybelline The Rocket Volume Express Mascara in Black Brown
Every single beauty guru on YouTube couldn't get enough of this stuff last summer, so I jumped on the bandwagon. I really like this mascara since it doesn't give my eyelashes a clumpy appearance. And I know what you're thinking too, why isn't it fully black? Before you call me off for not appreciating black mascara, in the spring, I like browner mascara's because they reflect the sun in a really pretty way.

6. L'Oreal Colour Riche Collection Privee Lipstick in Eva's Nude
I fully know that this is a nude lip made for Latino's who have a skin tone similar to Eva Longoria's. However, brown based lip products give my skin a really cool fresh effect, since I need warmer tones. So it gives my lips a natural sort of brownish appeal to them. I like it, and if I ever do makeup for one of my Latino friends, I'll have a perfect nude for them. I also really want the one for Frieda Pinto.

That's it! I know, I'm super boring right now makeup wise, but hey, sometimes there aren't a ton of products that catch your eye at all during the month. Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed it anyway. And before you ask, I'm currently working on the Park Shin Hye makeup look and it should be coming out this Thursday for this weeks K-Thursday (: Have a great day!

How To Get Korean Glowing Skin aka Honey Skin

Anneyoung!

Happy K- Wednesday! I have been noticing that dewy skin is making a comeback, and it's about time! I'm so tired of everyone wanting matte skin, and I'm am ready to teach you how to get the ever so coveted, Korean glowing skin. Korean stars like Park Shin Hye, Hyori, and Sulli are known for their amazingly dewy, fresh looking skin. Today I'm going to teach you how to obtain this kind of appearance with 5 easy steps.

Step 1: Moisturize

So many people forget that they need to have a moisturized face before they apply any product to their skin. The moisture will help the products to adhere and blend into the skin better, for a more natural look. Skipping this step can lead to flaky skin that is definitely not pretty. I like to use the Cetaphil Derma Control Moisturizer, because it helps to give my skin a nourishing feel while keeping the oil at bay.

Step 2: Prime

Priming will set the mood for everything else you will apply. To get a fresh faced look, go with a primer that is orange. It may sound very intimidating, but it will blend out to give your skin a fresh finish. I especially like to use the Pixi Fresh Face Primer, which has tiny shimmers to it, for an even glow and gives off that fresh appearance.

Step 3: Conceal

In general, this is really important in any makeup routine if you have less than perfect skin. Koreans are blessed with the good skin gene, so to get the same look, use a conceal in the under eye area with a orange tinted concealer to give the skin a brightened look. Apply a thicker, more heavy duty concealer on any unsightly blemishes. Be sure to match it as close as possible to your skin color.

Step 4: BB or CC

For this step, you can either use a light BB cream or CC cream. Today, I'm using the Etude House Bad Guy BB Cream because it has a really light, natural finish for the skin. Generally I don't where foundation, so I opt for something lighter. A tinted moisturizer would be fine as well to get that soft dewy look. I always apply BB cream with my beauty blender to give an even more natural look.

Step 5: Set

The last step is to set the remaining skin with a pressed powder. This will maintain it for a much longer time. Even if your not much of a powder person, spot powder. Basically what I mean by that is take your powder puff and press the powder only where you concealed on blemishes. That is generally what I do to avoid a cakey look. I really like the Etude House Shini Star Clear Powder Pact in Peach. The color peach totally is a skin brightener, so never shy away from it, when you want to steal Sulli's natural glow. The clear pact also has a really nice subtle shimmer to it as well.

That's it! Now you know how to capture that natural looking aura that everyone in the K-Pop world is known for. If you have any request for a makeup look, leave it in the comment section, and don't forget to 1+ this post. Oh! I almost forgot, I will be doing a Park Shin Hye Tutorial soon, probably next Thursday (; Until then, Choi!

Holika Holika Petit Clearing BB Cream Review + Swatches

Happy K-Thursday
You might be wondering why I'm celebrating, but it is the first time in months that the temperature has gotten up to 50 degrees (Fahrenheit)!!! It is such a nice little heat wave. To bad it's supposed to snow tomorrow. That's what happens when you live in Ohio though, you kinda have to take it in stride. Anyway, I've been trying out this BB to get my bearing of it and now I can tell you all the fun details!

What is it?
Holika Holika Petit Clearing BB Cream ($9) is a BB cream made for oily/acne-prone skin types. It promises to give the skin a clean feel, leaving you with baby face appearance. It is also supposed to relieve skin troubles and red spots, leaving you with a fresh texture.

Ingredients:
Water,Cyclopentasiloxane,Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Titanium Dioxide,Methicone,Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Dimethicone,Butyelene Glycol,Disteardimonium hectorite, Tribehenin, PEG-10 Dimethicone,Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Iron Oxides(CI 77492) & Mica & Methicone,Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer,Sodium Chloride, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Triethyl Citrate,Glyceryl Behenate,Polyglyceryl-6 Octastearate,Silica,Iron Oxides(CI 77491) & Mica & Methicone,Iron Oxides(CI 77499) & Mica & Methicone,Phonoxyethanol,Methylparaben,Propylparaben,Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Extract, Fragrance,Xanthan Gum

I'm just going to say this now, just to get it out of my mind, there are way to many ingredients I can't pronounce, which makes me a little nervous. However, after researching the ingredients, I've found a few things that I find are okay. I mean I didn't really  go into this brand expecting an all natural kind of product, since Holika Holika never makes such claims, so I can't say I'm too disappointed.

Ingredients Worth Noting:

Tea Tree Extract- Originally from Australia, Tea Tree Extract is used to cure acne, psoriasis, eczema, as well as other skin conditions. It is also used on scrapes and burns because it kills microorganisms that cause diseases. It also have anti inflammatory properties, which is why it is so commonly used for acne and skin care treatment.
Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate- Okay, while I'm still a little psyched out big names, I've done my research and this product isn't that bad. It's made to reflect/scatter UV rays, and activates under large amounts sunshine. It is also said to reduce the appearance of scars.

Dimethicoen/ Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer- Okay, even though this is a silicone, it is apparently safe since it is in the majority of skincare products these days. It is commonly used because it leaves the skin with a dry, smooth, powdery feel. I can tell why they use it in this product since they want to give your skin an oil controlling feel it leaves the skin with.

Butyelene Glycol- is a skin friendly oil component that is supposed to help with giving the skin a "good feel". Bascially that fresh, baby face thing the product says it gives you. It is supposed to be very safe because it's used in baby products and suncare cosmetics since it has a high SPF.

Performance:

Packaging:
I'm actually pretty okay with the packaging. Although I like things that have a little more structure and though put into them, but It's okay. It's also very hygienic, because I'm not digging my fingers into it and I get get more product out, which is harder to do with pump types. The tube itself is a teal blue shade and has the signature Holika Holika cat on it. Each tube in the Petit series has the cat in different poses, this one has the kitty looking up. The cap is very simple and not much to speak of.

Smell:
This has a very nice fresh floral scent that isn't too over powering. Unfortunately, if your sensitive towards scents, you might not be too into this, since it is very unique. I like it though well enough.

Application:

I generally apply this product in dots on my face and blend it out with a damp beauty blender.

My Thoughts:
This is my first Holika Holika BB Cream to try and I think its pretty good. I break out really easily from new products and this didn't do that at all. The scent is very nice as well, somewhat of a watery floral smell. It makes your skin have a matte finish and really makes it look naturally even. I'm very impressed with this on my skin and since I haven't been breaking out a lot, I like to apply this with a damp beauty blender for a sheerer application. It's not totally matte, but its also not dewy. Baby skin means that it's going to give you a natural finish. One thing that I don't really like is that if you have dry skin, this product is not forgiving, so if you have drier skin, make sure to moisturize before priming. I have combination skin and while I like the oil controlling properties, I wish it moisturized a little bit more. As for staying power, it last for about 5-6 hours without getting oily on my skin.

Pros:
Great Coverage
Smells Good
Gives a Good Matte Finish

Cons:
Makes Flakey Skin Noticeable
Has An Interesting Texture

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5
I like this product, it's just not a love. I really want to try out more products from the Petit BB line though so be ready for more reviews from this brand (: I'll see you next Thursday!

Girls' Generation Hyoyeon Mr.Mr. Inspired Makeup Tutorial

Happy K-Thursday!
I would've gotten this done sooner, but last Friday, I got some food poisoning and was sick for two days. So that kinda sucked. But I'm feeling better now and on the bright side I got to catch up on Heirs. Anyway, I'm ready to show you how to get Hyoyeon unnie's makeup look. Out of all the look I liked hers the best, because it was the most spring like in my mind. Also, every Thursday, I'll be uploading some kind of Korean makeup tutorial, so that should be an exciting addition to our family. Pretty soon, I'm going to be releasing a post about a schedule so you know what to expect on select days. I hope  you enjoy this tutorial!

Base:

Perfect: I'm loving this BB cream to get the coveted dewy look that Korean stars are famous for. The texture of this BB cream is mousse like, which makes applying it with a damp beauty blender, a dream. So I just dotted this on my cheeks, forehead, nose and chin and blended it out with my beauty blender, to create naturally flawless looking skin.

Conceal: My skin has been really good to me lately, so the only concealing I'm doing is for my dark circles. If you haven't read my review of this product, click here. I just apply this with my ring finger underneath my eyes and then blend it out with my beauty blender. This completely gets rid of the look of my icky dark circles.

Set: This powder pact is so great for giving the skin a natural looking finish. It also helps to give the skin some glow because it has a very finely milled shimmer in it. The color of this pact as well, helps to give the skin a brightened look. Not to mention I'm a Shawol, so this is kinda my jam (; I applied it with the puff given.

Bronze: I cannot skip this step. Hyoyeon has a very subtle contour along the outside of her face, so to achieve a similar look, I'm going to take this bronzer and apply it with a kabuki, for an even application. This bronzer also will give my face a warmer look, perfect for spring.

Blush: This stuff is awesome. While you might be thinking that it's just a blush, oh you are so completely wrong. This brightens up my complexion so nicely. It literally makes you skin look awesome, even on the worst skin day, at least that's how it is with my skin. It is gorgeous and I love the way it makes my skin look. On the plus side, it's barely noticeable which is good for this look. I applied this to the apples and sweeping out with a kabuki brush.

Highlight: Okay, for this look, it's really important to capture a dewy glow. While most powder highlighters make your face look cakey, this one is the opposite. It gives the skin a glow without making you look like a birthday cake, and the shimmer is so subtle and pretty. It looks very natural. I used the brush it came with for this tutorial on the high points of my face.

Eyes:

Brows: Never ever forget to do your eyebrows! It is so important because they frame your eyes. Look at it this way, the eyes are the window to the soul and you want to have a great frame for those windows. I like powders because it's more effortless looking. I like to apply this with an angled brush, and then run a spooli through my brows.

Prime: I'm using an eye pencil as my base today, because my other champagne eye primer, dried out. So I'm using this one to give my a eyes a nice glowing base. I applied it where the shadows are going be and blended it out with my ring finger.

Lid: My first lid color is a bronze/brown which I applied with a fluffy brush over the eye penciled areas. Make sure that if you're using a mineral eyeshadow, to tap off the excess so as not to get to dark of a color too fast. Let it build up a little bit naturally rather than all at once. I blended it out into the crease, once I had gotten it to the level of opaqueness that I wanted.

Crease: The next color, Smog, is going on the outer v portion of my eye. This will give the look more depth. I also extended it slightly so capture Hyoyeon's look. I applied this with a flat eyeshadow brush.

Brighten: I'm going to bring some light back into this look by applying Half Baked on the center of my lid with my ring finger. This not only makes your eyes look brighter, it also makes them look bigger. (sorry for the blurriness)

Corner: Last shadow is a part of look is going on my inner corners. Once again, the goal here is to brighten up the eyes. With as much eyeliner as we're going to apply, it's a big deal to keep the inner portion light. I applied this with an eyeshadow brush.

Line: I'm going to take this all around my eyes. I'm tight lining and then applying it to my upper lash line. I'm then going to smudge it with an angled brush (same one I used for my eyebrows). I'm going to apply it, lightly, to my lower lash line and close to the inner corner of my eyes.

Lash: Lastly, I'm going to curl my eyelashes, and coat them with a even application of the Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara, and once dried apply a coat of the Etude House Shockcara. This really gives a fake lash look. My lash glue kinda froze on it's way over from Korea, so..... no falsies.

Lips:
Base: I'm generally not a fan of layering lipsticks, but for this look, I'm good with it. This is a really light almost lilac bubblegum pink. It's a little to light for this look, but to get the perfect color, I'm going to be mixing it up a bit.

Define: I'm going to to a bit of a gradient lip here. I'm applying this hot pink in the center of my lips and then blending it out with my fingers ( I know so hygienic).

Shine: Lastly to tie all the colors together, I'm going to apply a hot pink lip gloss to the center of my lips. It will volumize the look of them as well.

Finished Look:

Okay! I hope you all enjoyed this Hyoyeon inspired look. I made it a little more wearable , since I never want to show you how to do something I wouldn't actually wear anywhere. I hope you excited for more K- Thursday, I know I am! I had a really funny thought the other day too, should I do makeup tutorials for the guys of the KPop world too? I mean they can have some pretty cool looks, right? Haha anyway, Enjoy the rest of your day!

February Beauty Favorites 2014

Hi!
So here are my favorites for this month. There aren't as many as last month since there really aren't as many things that struck me as amazing this month. I did, however, find a ton of great new music and I'll be telling you about my favorite groups, later on. Ohh also my favorite show of the month and the K-Drama I'm currently watching. Let's start with the beauty items first.

Beauty:

First is the L'Oreal Ever Strong Anti- Breakage Shampoo. I used the hydrating kind in the summer and I absolutely loved it, so I figured I would try the anti-breakage kind, and let me tell you it smells soooooooooo good. Something about the minty rosemary scent, just gets me. It makes my hair stronger and softer. I have also noticed I've been losing less hair when I'm brushing. My hair overall has been super happy with this product, looking shinier, stronger and healthier.

I love this blush. It has got that perfect springtime feel about it. The color is gorgeous and it applies to nicely to my skin. It has a beautiful creamy texture. It is a powder so don't be confused, but it is very smooth to the touch. I feel like this brightens up everlook I'm wearing these days. It has become a go to, since it jsut gives your face a natural fresh look, perfect for spring.

I was on the fence when I first got this mascara, but after I figured out how to use it, I started shipping it. When you apply it you have to turn the wand to get the full effect, since each side does something different. I love me some waterproof mascara, because I'm in high school and you never really know when your going to cry, so I always like to be prepared. This baby is waterproof to boot. It stays where you put it and won't move around as the day goes on.

This has been all I've put on my lips since I got it in my memebox. I fell instantly in love with this color adjusting mauve. What does that mean? It means that depending on your natural lip color, it will look differently on you. For me it evens out into a beautiful pinkish mauve, which I love. It applies nicely and has a good sticky (but not too sticky) feel to it.

Okay, last beauty favorite. This is such a good lotion. I keep it beside my bed just in case I need some instant hand hydration. And yes, I haven't been using this as a body lotion exactly, but honestly, your hand is apart of your body so, I see no problem. It delivers great moisture to my hands and it gives you that instantly moisturized feel. Unlike other moisturizers though, that feeling stays throughout the day.

I hope you guys enjoyed and I'll be back to ya soon with a Hyoyeon tutorial for SNSD's Mr. Mr.
